The order we check things in

Weak cooling has four usual causes and they are not equally likely, so we rule them out in order of cost to you. Airflow first: a blocked filter or a coil packed with dust makes a healthy system behave exactly like a failing one, and in Bali that is what we find most often. Then the outdoor unit, because a condenser that cannot shed heat produces the same symptom. Only then do we measure refrigerant pressure, and last we test the capacitor, fan and compressor. Topping a system up before checking the first three is how people end up paying for gas twice.

What you can check yourself first

Before you call anyone: pull the filters out and look at them, check the outdoor unit is not boxed in or covered, and confirm the remote is on cooling rather than fan or dry mode with the temperature actually set below the room. If the indoor unit is icing up, switch it off and let it thaw — running it iced will not cool the room and can damage the compressor. If it still runs warm after all that, diagnosis on site is Rp65,000 and comes off the bill if you approve the repair.

How much does it cost to check an AC that is not cold?

On-site diagnosis is Rp65,000, and it comes off the bill if you approve the repair. The technician confirms the price before any work starts.

Does a warm AC always need a freon refill?

No — in Bali the most common cause is a dirty filter or coil, which cleaning fixes. We check airflow and the coil before touching refrigerant, so you do not pay for gas you did not need. A top-up, when it is genuinely needed, starts at Rp325,000 depending on refrigerant type and capacity.

My AC got a freon refill recently but is warm again. Why?

Refrigerant does not get used up — if it is low again, it leaked out. Refilling without finding and fixing the leak means paying for gas twice. We pressure-test and look for the leak first.

There is ice on the pipe. What should I do?

Switch the unit off and let it thaw completely. Running it iced will not cool the room and can damage the compressor — the most expensive part of the system.

When is cleaning enough, and when is it a repair?

If the coil and filters are dirty, a standard indoor + outdoor clean (Rp125,000, 14-day warranty) usually restores cooling. If the unit is clean but still warm, we check refrigerant pressure and electrical parts and quote before fixing anything.
